So what’s this voting thing all about anyway?

Strowlers and their fans are a special community of like-minded folks and all of the Strowler events are intended to be more than just weekends of entertainment.  We want our festivals to be interactive and we want each and every one of you to be able to reward your favorite performers in a tangible way.

You should receive several vouchers with your program book when you check in with the registration table.  These vouchers are your votes.

Give votes for your favorite performers.

Give votes for your favorite workshop teacher or panelist.

Save a vote or two to give to the best performers you see at this event, (not necessarily the ones you came here to see) to give them an extra reward.

If you want to give more votes, additional vouchers are available for purchase at the event merchandise table.

What do these votes mean?   What are they for? Good questions, and we are very glad you’re interested in the answers.

Each vote represents a portion of the net revenues of this event, which you have the power to assign to the event contributors you deem most worthy.

Since StrowlerFest is a performer-run event, we are able to experiment with a new way of compensating our contributors.   Thus 100% of the net revenues for the entire event will be shared amongst the performers and workshop teachers, and their shares are largely determined by your votes.   To put it more directly, the performers and workshop teachers and panelists hired by StrowlerFest will earn more money from the event for every vote they earn from you.

Why are we using votes to do this?

Our impressive collective of performers and our teachers are the reason that you paid to come to this event, but you probably decided to attend specifically to see just a few of them.  Some of our event contributors are probably bringing in more fans than others, and these votes are a very direct way for you to tell us which ones brought you to this event.

These votes will also tell us who contributed the most to the event in other ways.   The best performers and the best teachers add extra value to this event in ways that go beyond mere ticket sales, and we hope that they will earn votes from you as well.

That’s the reason why we’re giving you several vouchers with which to assign your votes.  We know that many of you are here for more than one reason, and most of you will be entertained and impressed by several performers and teachers.

We hope that this voting system helps make sure that the people who are contributing most to your enjoyment of this event are compensated fairly for their efforts and their talents.
