Maker Showcase
Thank you for visiting our Maker Showcase page, where you can find information about our Maker track at StrowlerCon on Columbus Day Weekend, October 8-10, 2010.
We will have about 1000 square feet dedicated to our “Maker Showcase” (ie. better than an art show) showcasing inventors and tinkerers and artists that work in physical, touchable media, as well as traditional art media.
We are currently accepting submissions. Please provide a written description, descriptive drawings, and/or photographs for consideration by our showcase jury. Please include details on how you intend to display your creative work, and whether it has any participatory/interactive aspects or whether you would like to schedule a “demonstration” period sometime within the event.
If you are also interested in leading or supporting a workshop or panel within your particular specialty, please let us know. Additional considerations and publicity may be available to featured presenters.
Our ideal list of maker workshops would include: sculpture, mask-making, electronics and LEDs, costumery, metal-working/machining, digital media, chip programming, arduino basics, CNC and 3D printing, and other popular and relevant aspects of being a Maker.
The Maker Showcase and the panels and workshops are the core of what turns this into a community event, and more than just some concert. They aren’t necessarily what draws people to the event, but they are what make it _into_ an event.
